The Umu Akuma community of Okposi in Oha-ozara Local Government of Ebonyi State are the known people to practice the Akpu Egwu celebration.

Originally Nguvie shrine and tradition which is common to the people of umu Akuma was used for dictating maturity in ladies and girls to know if they are ripe for circumcision and also to calculate the New Yam Period.

Egwu Akwanju is a dangerous forest located at Amelu. It is home to several ritualist and witch doctors shrines with thousands of dead bodies loitered around.
